This is going to be interesting.

My first thoughts when I saw the course name was that it was going to be interesting to say the least. I thought of all the negative and positive views of women that I have seen in movies, books and adverts. 

Most of the views of my friends were those of passionate feminists, people who believed that women were still not equal. I do not always agree with their views and thought it would be interesting to see the argument from a less opinion oriented position.

I believe a classroom should be a less opinion based arena as it should be more focused on facts.
I think that a classroom should be a neutral field where opinions should be taken into consideration based on validity not by the side of the argument that they took.

I look forward to learning more about the representations of women throughout time. I am very interested to see where the topic will take me, though I am quite interested in the representation of female heroines in Marvels films as I believe they are portrayed quite positively in comparison to other superhero's from alternate studios *cough* DC *cough*

    Also, same about the neutral fact filled stuff, because it'll still point to inequality.

Women Over Time Even before this unit, the representation of women had been a topic I was interested in. With social media nowadays, the subject comes up even more often, and has sparked many debates and protests. However, when the unit began, I realised that the sexism experienced by women was still a major ongoing problem in our society. Women are often portrayed as inferior to men. They are objectified, and pressurised to be physically beautiful, because society has forced them into believing that that is their role.
